Your Treatment Sessions

Treatment sessions (apart form your initial session) are usually 30 minutes long. During this session your physio will briefly reassess your response to any previous treatment and then start treatment as agreed.

How many sessions will I need?:

At Marple Physio we average about 5 sessions per patient. However, some conditions require only one or two visits and some more complex or chronic problems will require significantly more. This will be discussed with you at your initial appointment and a plan agreed.

When you arrive:

On arrival at Marple Physio you can park in our dedicated patient car park found to the rear of the clinic. You may then enter the clinic via the front or rear entrance and make your way to reception where you will be greeted by one of our staff who will ask you to fill out a simple registration form and possibly a brief questionnaire related to your problem.

What do I wear?:

Your physio will need to see the area to be treated, so we advise that you wear clothing that will allow this e.g. bring shorts for knee, hip or ankle problems or wear a vest top if you have a neck, back or shoulder problem. If coming with a condition related to running or walking it is appropriate to bring your running shoes or walking boots with you.

Your initial appointment:

Most initial appointments are 45 minutes long and include assessment and treatment. Your Physiotherapist will introduce him or herself and explain the process before starting the assessment. During the assessment you will be asked questions about your current problem or injury, your general health and you may be asked about hobbies, sport or your job. Following this 'subjective' assessment the physiotherapist will perform, what we call, an 'objective' assessment - this will include such things as posture observation, movement testing, strength tests, neurological tests, relevant special tests, such as ligament tests for a knee injury, and palpation of the painful area.

Following the assessment your physiotherapist will explain any relevant findings and discuss treatment options with you. Once a treatment plan is agreed by you and your physiotherapist we can start treatment straight away.

At Marple Physio we are very proud to say that we get consistently excellent feedback from our patients and we thought it was worth sharing our 2011 Patient Satisfaction Survey Results with you.
